Since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on 24 February, more than 2 million Ukrainians – the vast majority women and children – have fled to neighbouring countries. The UN estimates that 54 per cent of people in need of assistance from the ongoing crisis are women, and evidence shows that women and girls are disproportionately affected by conflict.
There are many initiatives supporting women and girls affected by the war in Ukraine, ranging from major international organizations to small civil society actions.
