Ukrainian films in Venice

The line-up for the Venice Film Festival was announced yesterday. The festival will present Ukrainian films.

“Luxembourg, Luxembourg”

The feature film “Luxembourg, Luxembourg”, has been selected for the Orizzonti Competition, the second most important after the main competition at the Venice Film Festival.
“Luxembourg, Luxembourg” is the second film by Ukrainian director Antonio Lukich, known for his debut “My Thoughts Are Silent” (2019).
Opposite twins learn that their father, who abandoned them in childhood, is dying in Luxembourg. One of the brothers – Kolya, decides to go to him, while the other – Vasily, does everything to prevent his brother from leaving the country. The leading roles in the film are played by the members of the rap band “Mound and Agregat” – brothers Ramil and Amil Nasirov.

In the non-competitive section, on the other hand, the documentary film by Evgeny Afineevsky and Alex Kashpur “Freedom On Fire: Ukraine’s Fight For Freedom” will be shown.
Also out of competition, director Sergei Loznitsa’s latest film “The Kiev Trial” will be presented.

The Venice Film Festival will be held from August 31 to September 10.
