Ukraine Film Awards KINOKOLO announced in Kyiv Bunker

PAMFIR by director Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk was the big winner of the 2022 KINOKOLO Awards, which took place despite the ongoing war in the country.

National Film Critics Award KINOKOLO is an annual award that aims to mark the achievements of Ukrainian cinema and film industry figures over the past year on behalf of the Ukrainian film critics’ community. In 2018, the award was presented for the first time as part of the Kyiv Week of Critics.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Ukrainian National Film Critics association handed out its 2022 Kinokolo Awards on Thursday October 20, 2022, broadcasting the ceremony from a bunker studio in Kyiv. The event was carried on national public TV channel Suspilne Kultura.

PAMFIR from director Dmytro Sukholytkyi-Sobchuk was the night’s big winner, taking home best film, best director and best screenwriter honors, as well the discovery of the year prize for the best full-length debut. PAMFIR star Oleksandr Yatsentyuk also took best actor for his performance in the film as a man who returns to Ukraine from abroad and gets drawn into his criminal past. PAMFIR premiered in Cannes in Directors’ Fortnight.

Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk is one of the ten recipients of the Humanitas’ Kieser Award, a $10,000 cash prize, which was presented to Filmmakers for Ukraine for its 2022 edition. Read more about the Kieser Award HERE.
