Interview with director Sergei Loznitsa

With Maidan (2014), Sergei Loznitsa accompanied the revolutionary changes in Ukraine, which have now turned out to be historic. Dr. Kay Hoffmann spoke to him about the film and his personal assessment of the political situation.

Sergei Loznitsa was born in Belarus and grew up in Ukraine. After studying mathematics and working as an engineer, Sergei Loznitsa studied at the Moscow Film School, which he graduated in 1997. He has lived in Germany with his family since 2001. In his feature films and documentaries, Loznitsa often deals with the situation in Russia and historical themes. His productions have screened at international festivals and won numerous awards.
