Charity Screening at Cinema Elvire Popesco in Bucharest

The charity screening series #togetherforUkraine continues at Cinema Elvire Popesco in Bucharest. The screenings feature films made by Ukrainian cinematographers or movies that showcase Ukrainian stories and realities.

Monday, the 28th of March 2022, will be screened : THE BABUSHKAS OF CHERNOBYL documentary by Holly Morris and Anne Bogart and the collection of short films MARIUPOL, I LOVE YOU, made by Mariupol residents during 2017-2021.

THE BABUSHKAS OF CHERNOBYL is affectionate portrait of a group of women who, after the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, returned to the exclusion zone surrounding the nuclear power plant. They have resided there – semi-officially, for years.

MARIUPOL, I LOVE YOU shows life in the city before the invasion. It consists of four short films made by Mariupol locals between 2017 and 2021. These are stories of everyday life, dreams, and relationships. And how they were influenced by the first phase of the war in 2014.

All proceeds from the charity screening will be donated to the Union of Ukrainians in Romania to help refugees.

The event is supported by The UrbanEye Film Festival and made possible by the Ukrainian streaming platform Takflix.
